The Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department was established in the year 2003. B. Tech Computer Science & Engineering is a 4-year undergraduate engineering course on practical and theoretical knowledge of computer hardware and software. The department offers a B. Tech. programme in Computer Science & Engineering with an intake of 60 students. Our Programme had been affiliated to the Kannur University, Kannur, Kerala from the 2003 to 2014 admissions, and is affiliated to the A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technological University, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala from the 2015 admissions onwards. The college is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi. Department of Computer Science and Engineering strive to produce competent professionals and entrepreneurs with ethical values and spirit of social commitment for the betterment of the society. The department has competent and committed faculty which encourages students' involvement in various co-curricular activities along with their academics. The department is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, well qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty members and promising students and above all a tranquil environment conducive to engineering studies. Four well equipped laboratories functions under this department.
Department plays a vital role in nurturing students with up-to-date knowledge in Computer Science & Engineering. Bridge courses conducted by the department provide opportunities for the students to strengthen the pre-requisites required for various courses in the curriculum. To broaden their knowledge in the emerging technologies, the department frequently conducts Symposiums, Seminars, Tech fests, Workshops, Webinars and Conferences with the support of experienced resource persons from the industry. Department has also signed an MoU with Red Hat for up-skilling students in Open Source technologies. The departmental library is equipped with latest books in various fields of Computer Science which provides additional insight to both students and faculty members.
B. Tech in Computer Science and Engineering is being one of the best choices not only in India but also around the world. During the four years, undergraduates will be made conversant with software and hardware by studying subjects like operating system, computer networks, digital image processing, database management systems, cloud computing, Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Data Science, Data Mining, Mathematics and cryptography and network security in addition to programming languages. Projects make thorough understanding and showcase of skills acquired during their course of study. Even novice student who has no knowledge about programming will be able to understand, design and develop sustainable solutions to the societal problems.
After completing B.Tech in Computer Science, a student has a choice to opt for a career in the IT industry or be an entrepreneur. He can also go for higher studies in India or abroad, and qualify to become a school teacher or a college/university faculty member. Having achieved the necessary qualifications, they can also go towards research. There are numerous career options that a Computer Science and Engineering graduate can look into such as Data Analyst, Software developer, Networking Engineer, Database Administrator, Testing Engineer, Game Developer, Information security specialist, Programmer, information Systems Operation and Management, Telecommunications and Networking, Computer Science Researcher, Web and Internet, Graphics and Multimedia, Training and Support, Computer Industry Specialists and many more.
